KATEY ANGELICA KALANGES

I am a visual artist on a journey to create beautiful work for a living, and my hope is to change people's perspectives along the way. I enjoy working primarily with acrylic paint with mixed media on canvas and with watercolors and illustration pens on paper.

I was raised in a small town in upstate New York that you can barely locate on a map. I grew up surrounded by energizing colors and beautiful scenery that inspired me to stay connected with nature, and ever since I can remember I've been fascinated with the world around me. As the old saying goes: "I haven't been everywhere, but it's on my list."

In 2008, when I graduated high school, I moved to Buffalo, New York to begin my academic adventure at Buffalo State College, and I began to pursue my professional dreams of being a full-time artist. I knew right away I wanted to major in Art Education, and eventually I picked up a minor in Ceramics and Art Therapy. I spent a semester studying abroad in Australia, traveling and immersing myself in new cultures.

As you can imagine, I had the time of my life. I was determined to make this spontaneous and adventurous lifestyle my norm. I graduated from Buffalo State College in 2013, and I spent a year teaching adults with disabilities art and how to express themselves through a variety of mediums. I learned at a young age that the creation process was peaceful, and I wanted to share this notion with others. I saved as much money as I could that year and before I knew it, I was headed to California to start anew.

I am currently living in San Diego, California working as a professional artist and a Fine Art Consultant at Legends Gallery of La Jolla. I operate an Etsy shop as well which is where all of my fun side projects are listed for sale.

Thanks for stopping by! My work is available for purchase at Legends Gallery of La Jolla and please feel free to visit my Etsy shop.

Cheers!
